Disquieting Innocence and the Beauty of it.

The impulsive urge to render a most beautified depiction of the female form or beauty is perhaps the most initial driving force behind the debut of almost every girl's artistic career. But who can best grasp the entirety of a woman besides a woman herself ?

Audrey Kawasaki, a Los Angeles based painter, is one such young woman who took forth her girlish infatuation into the elysian maturity of womanhood.

 What makes her work interesting despite being so simple, as far as the technique and methodical application of the medium goes, is the paradoxical conflict of innocence and erotism that the images retain.
Her girls with their 'bedroom eyes' and undenaibly sensual poses and gestures with the ironical cute manga/anime feel in their slight bodies and small features, encompasse the not so soft yet so innocent aspect of a woman, leaving the viewer with a pleasantly unsettled sense of 'preety'. They are, in fact, perpetually haunting. her work reeks of Art Nouveau.

The show of the selected works of this most talented artist's provocative paintings, almost all done in oil and graphite on wood panels, seeks to allow the viewer a chance to simply experience these peculiar pieces of art.
